Václav Chochola is one of the most renowned Czech documentary and portrait photographers of the second half of the 20th century. His work was influenced by Skupina 42’s aesthetics of imaginative civilism, and by his lifelong friendship with Karel Ludwig and Zdeňek Tmej. Portraits of important Czech and world cultural figures make up the main and most extensive section of his work. His daughter Blanka Chocholová and his grandson Marek continue in his footsteps and keep his exceptional photographic archive (Archiv B&M Chochola).
